THEME
The room theme is based on Star Trek 'The Original Series', an iconic American science-fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry in 1966. There are also elements of the British TV show Doctor Who
CONCEPT
The Star Trek themed room was designed to be a fun and practical multi-purpose area. It comprises a home theater, board gaming area, computer gaming station, home office, hobby area, bar, bedroom, and bathroom
SPOCK and UHURA STATIONS
These were recreated using the U.S.S. Enterprise bridge blueprints published by Michael McMaster. These are considered to be the most accurate blueprints for the Star Trek original series bridge
STATION DESIGN
The individual elements are accurately reproduced, although there was artistic license with regard to the layout. For example, the targeting scope is placed on Spock's station rather than on the helm. The stations are also scaled down to fit in the room
SPOCK STATION
This is the library-computer station. The moire Spock scanner (middle left) can be switched on so the pattern rotates. The Earth outpost map (top left) appeared on the episode 'Balance of Terror' in season one
UHURA STATION
This is the communications station. As with the library-computer station, the display panel lights flash in sequence. Spock's environmental sensor was placed on the right to balance the overall appearance
TURBO LIFT DOORS
The turbo lift doors open and close automatically. The alcove area was closely reproduced according the original show. The ship's schematic is seen on the left and the red alert light and ship's dedication plaque are on the right
HOME OFFICE
This is a functioning computer work station. Unfortunately it communicates with the real world today, and not the twenty-third century!
